How Can swelling And Redness In The Tonsils Be Treated?

Hello,
I have swollen tonsils that are red and sore under my arm pits, but no fever. And now i have some white spots on the roof of my mouth with no pain, do these symptoms have anything to do with each other? I am starting to really stress about this

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

As per your description it seems that you are having tonsillitis. The white spots might be some minor apthous ulcer(oral ulcer) or debris collected from inflamed tonsil.
You don't need to worry because it is a highly curable condition and chances for complications are very minimal.
I suggest you to consult an ENT specialist and get the following things done:-
(1)- A short course of antibiotic therapy is essential, you can go for antibiotics like amoxicillin for five to seven days.
(2)- You can take actaminophen in case of fever and pain.
(3)- Do warm saline gargles or gargling with a numbing mouth wash.
(4)- You can use antihistamines like levocetrezine for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist despite all these ,a throat swab may be required to find out the exact pathogen causing the problem.
If you have repeated attacks of tonsilitis, tonsillectomy(surgical removal of tonsil) is the best option.

Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks
Dr.Shinas
